Kanumuru Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, the MP from Narsapuram Lok Sabha constituency, has laid down a notice in the Parliament for the release of funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. A press note from his office:

NOTICE UNDER RULE 377

Need to immediate release of long pending component material funds pertaining to

MGNREGA Scheme

“I would like to draw the attention of the Rural Development Minister to the issue of release of pending component material under MGNREGA Scheme to the state of Andhra Pradesh.

“Sir, till now the Andhra Pradesh state government has spent a sum of Rs. 2246 Crores under this scheme and waiting for release of funds from the central government. These funds need to be paid within 15 days of completion of the work. But these payments have not been made due to the lack of central funds from centre to the state. Time and again, the matter has been brought to the notice of the Hon’ble Rural Development Minister for early release of funds. But till now nothing has been done in this matter.

“Since the state government is already facing acute financial crunch, as it had to implement various government schemes, keeping in view of the long pending nature of these funds, I strongly urge upon the Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development to take immediate steps to release of these pending funds to the state immediately without any further delay.”
