Potnalla was desperate for whiskey. His stock was over; to his consternation he discovered his wife was drinking stealthily.
In the lockdown due to Covid-19, alcohol was as scarce as ideological loyalty.
Potnalla sneaked out into Karimnagar’s erstwhile liquor seller’s house, and knocked. Ex comrade Jeevan Reddy handed him 100 Pipers.
Potnalla inhaled the aroma of alcohol, deeply.
Telangana did not elect the Congress party, and Karimnagar did not elect Mallesh. But Potnalla said, “Comrade, when I would become the Home Minister of Telangana, I’ll—”
“Please, get me a bottle,” comrade begged, “next week.”
